Iqraa Trust organizes a Seminar on Improving Education in South Africa
Iqraa Trust hosted its first seminar on Improving Education in South Africa on Friday the 06th of November at the new Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre, situated inside Hunt Road Secondary School, opposite the Iqraa Trust offices in Glenwood Durban.
The seminar was attended by many academics from various Universities, Principals, Teachers, learners from different Schools and some parents.
The seminar covered many aspects such as:
The basic economics of education,
The future of Education in the COVID-19 era,
Education secrets and the six pillars of study success,
Accessing free learning resources on the internet,
Tools for learning,
Levels of progress and the basic 3 steps of the learning process.
The seminar was very informative and the participants engaged in an open discussion after the 3 presentations were conducted. There were many good and practical recommendations made by the presenters to learners, parents and teachers that hopefully will help in enhancing Education in Schools and Universities in the Glenwood/Berea area.

Iqraa Trust had recently hosted a Calculator Workshop for learners in Grade’s 10, 11 and 12 from Phambili High School and Hunt Road Secondary School. The workshop aided learners studying Mathematics on how to utilise the calculator by applying various formulas and gaining a better understanding on the different calculator concepts.
The program took place at the Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre located opposite the Iqraa Trust Offices at 15/17 Hunt Road, Glenwood, Durban inside Hunt Road Secondary School. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Lauren Izaak from James Ralph Pty ltd.
James Ralph pty ltd feels it is their social responsibility to give back to education by offering free Casio Scientific Calculator training to teachers and learners (Grade 8- 12) in schools, colleges, Universities, NGO’s, NPO’s, Vacation Schools, Maths Camps etc. The main focus is Maths, Maths Literacy, Physics, Technical Maths and Technical Science where they are taught how to properly utilize the resource and tool at hand to make teaching and learning easier.
This interactive program was conducted over a period of three days and covered the following Maths Syllabus: Prime Factors/Exponential Format, Time calculators, converting fractions and decimals into time, Trigonometry, Functions, Statistics, grouped data with frequency table, Linear regression, how to prepare for the maths test and exams and reviewing past year question papers.
On completion of the workshop the learners were awarded with the latest CASIO FX 82+II calculators which was sponsored by Iqraa Trust.
The Joys Of Reading Training Program
Iqraa Trust in partnership with Young Leaders Academy recently
hosted a workshop for Secondary School learners on ‘The Joys of Reading’. At Iqraa Trust we aim to promote a culture of reading amongst all students.
The program took place at the Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre and included a total number of 271 learners. The program allowed for learners to be educated on the benefits of reading for their career and for South Africa, they were advised on what to read, and provided with information on how to find excellent free books covering all subjects on the internet.
